What is SPC Vinyl Flooring?

Updated: Jan 25, 2021

Rigid Core Vinyl Flooring can be placed into two sub-categories: stone plastic composite (SPC) or wood plastic composite (WPC).

Vinyl flooring planks differ from laminate because of their water-resistant nature. This is due to its rigid core layered under its vinyl covering. SPC Vinyl flooring comprises of natural limestone powder, polyvinyl chloride, and certain stabilizers. Because of its stone composition, SPC vinyl flooring will be heavier than WPC vinyl floorings.

The use of a stone composite means that SPC Vinyl flooring are more resistant against impacts and scratches than its WPC counterparts.

This also means that SPC and WPC vinyl flooring can be installed in high-traffic rooms where is substantial moisture exposure and temperature fluctuations.

The different composition of vinyl flooring means that it will aesthetically stand out from other flooring. Vinyl flooring are heavier with a wide-grain finish that will transform any house into a mansion of elegance and style. Ideal for: houses with pets or young children, laundry rooms, basements, bathrooms, and kitchens.
